Musa Mthombeni (born 22 April 1990) is a South African television host, actor, content creator, and doctor. He is best known for presenting many YOTV shows.

As an actor, Musa has appeared in many television series. He played James in the drama anthology series eKasi: Our Stories and Bra Bones in the SABC1 drama series Intersexions in 2013.

Early Life

Musa Mthombeni was born on 22 April 1990. Growing up in the Vaal, south of Johannesburg, he stayed with his parents. His mother is a teacher, and she homeschooled him during his preschool years.

Education

Mthombeni obtained an MBBCh degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2015 and a Master of Medicine (MMed) in Diagnostic Radiology from the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits).

Dr Musa also graduated from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (CMSA) under the College of Diagnostic Radiologists of South Africa.

Career

Musa started as a presenter on various YoTV shows, including Land, Wildroom, Blue Couch, O-Zone, and Big Breakfast.

Other shows where Musa presented include ME TV, Friday Face Off, and Let’s Get Quizzical. He was part of the audience before he auditioned for YoTV. He auditioned for YoTV, and after two weeks, he got the job.

After leaving YoTV, Musa moved to YFM, where he served as an on-air host for two years (2012-2014). He had worked with Voice of Wits FM in 2010.

Aside from being a presenter on radio and television, Musa is a seasoned actor. In 2012, he played the lead role as James in an episode of the e.tv drama anthology series eKasi: Our Stories.

Musa played Bra Bones in the SABC1 drama series Intersexions in 2013 and appeared as a prankster in the candid camera comedy film Ek Joke Net 2 in 2014. He appeared on the SABC3 talk show Trending SA in November 2017, replacing Shaka Sisulu.

He is also a qualified doctor. After graduating from medical school, he did his internship in Durban for about two years.

Musa is also a content creator, and with his wife, he shares travel, lifestyle, and love experiences. They have been to many countries within and outside the African continent. They have been on romantic European getaways, explored exotic islands, and gone on holidays.

In 2023, Musa and his wife had already visited eight countries, five continents, and boarded 20 flights in 12 months.

Musa Mthombeni married his wife, Liesl Laurie-Mthombeni, in 2021. They had a traditional and white wedding ceremony. They each invited 15 family members, and guests wore black to the celebration hosted at Hello Timber in Pretoria.

Musa proposed to Liesl Laurie earlier in 2021. He was rumored to be dating Hlatsi Molokomme and actor, Thuso Mbedu. He rubbished the rumours about a relationship with Thuso but chose to remain silent about his relationship with Hlatsi.

Media personality Musa Mthombeni doesn’t have children. He pleaded to be given at least five to 10 years before expecting them to have children, as they celebrated 39 months of marriage. He built his parents a house in 2017.
