Early Life

Mbalenhle Mavimbela was born on 14 January 1997 in Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. She grew up with her mother, Tholakele Mavimbela, and her late grandmother, Thembi Mavimbela.

Education

Mavimbela attended Pinetown Girls’ High School, where she fell in love with acting. At first, she applied to study acting at AFDA, but financial constraints led her to study travel and tourism at the Durban University of Technology (DUT).

Career

Mavimbela started modelling at university and spent her time at the Drama faculty. She would watch their shows and admire the students who were studying acting. She later joined the theatre, attended auditions, and appeared in short films.

Her acting journey transitioned to television after she started appearing in television productions. She landed the role of Tandzile in the e.tv drama series Isipho, which became defunct after airing 100 episodes.

She portrayed Thandi in the e.tv telenovela Durban Gen, Negotiator in season 7 of the soap opera Isibaya, and Nothile on Skeem Saam. She was cast as the lead, Hlomu, a journalist who falls in love with a taxi driver/gangster in Showmax’s first-ever original telenovela, The Wife.

Mavimbela plays Buhle Zondo in the e.tv telenovela, Isiphetho: Destiny.

Aside from being an actress, Mavimbela is also a producer and director of no-budget films on YouTube. She also has a wine business, a production company, and masterclasses called Behind the Lens.

Mbalenhle Mavimbela has been in a relationship with musician Dlala Thukzin. In November 2024, she reportedly accused him of cheating. She is a proud mother to a baby boy.
