DJ Warras (27 November 1985 – 16 December 2025), whose real name is Warrick Stock, was a South African TV show host and a radio and club DJ.
With many experiences under his belt, Warras has built a legacy. He grabbed the spotlight in 2008 when he hosted a show on YFM. He joined the SABC1 music magazine programme Live Amp in September 2012.

Early Life
Warrick Stock was born on 27 November 1985 in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. His grandparents and his mother raised him.
His mother worked in Johannesburg, while he stayed with his grandparents, who guided him through his studies. Growing up, he had a structured and grounded upbringing on a farm.
Stock is the only child from his mother’s side, but has siblings from his father’s side. He never knew his father. He moved to Johannesburg as a teenager.
Education
DJ Warras studied for a BCom in investment management at Rand Afrikaans University (RAU), now University of Johannesburg (UJ).
Career
DJ Warras began working at YFM in 2008. Before radio, he worked at shops, manning the perfume counter and also call centre jobs.
He did an ad for McDonald’s to pay his varsity fees. He hosted Prime Mode on YFM weekdays in 2011, but after he had a fallout with the station’s chief executive, Kanthan Pillay. He later became the host of Undisputed on weekdays in 2012.
DJ Warras started co-hosting the SABC1 music magazine Live Amp alongside Luthando Shosha in 2012. He moved to 5FM and hosted the show The 5th Element alongside Tumi Voster in 2015.
In 2016, he was the presenter of the SABC3 show The Man Cave. He started hosting the Mzansi Magic reality show “Ngicel’iVisa” in October 2025. He also co-hosted the pop-culture digital series The Shady PHodcast with DJ PH.
Aside from radio and television, DJ Warras was a prolific club DJ. He has shared the stage with many top DJs and has played in known clubs across South Africa.
Personal Life
DJ Warras was married and had three children, including Ethan, Troy, and Kiyaan. He died on Tuesday, 16 December 2025, after being shot in Johannesburg.
