Nomalanga Shozi (born 12 July 1994) is a South African actress, TV presenter, and radio personality. She is best known for her role as Nomalanga in the soap opera Rhythm City.
The TV star has notable roles in MTV Shuga: Alone Together, Adulting, and the series Black Gold. She worked at the Durban-based radio station Gagasi FM as a co-host of the Hip-Hop Gagasi Music Sessions.

Early Life
Nomalanga Shozi was born on 12 July 1994 in Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal. Her father was a self-taught builder, and her mother was a teacher and also sold products. She grew up in a large family with 12 siblings.
She moved from Durban to Johannesburg in 2018 to further her career in the entertainment industry.
Education
Shozi matriculated from Marburg Secondary School. After high school, she studied Public Relations and Media Studies at Rosebank College in Durban.
Career
Shozi began working at Gagasi FM in 2015. She was sacked for disobeying the station manager by attending a social event in Cape Town, despite being scheduled to be on air.
After a year, she rejoined Gagasi FM as a host of the afternoon drive show with DJ Warras, and stayed for three years. She reported live from the BET Soul Train Awards in Las Vegas.
Shozi later announced the face of BET Africa in 2018. She presented the shows “BET Breaks” and “The Sauce”. She played Nomalanga in the e.tv soap opera Rhythm City in 2016. She attended an audition, beating more than 5,000 hopefuls to get the role.
The TV star was a featured guest on the SABC3 late-night talk show Larger Than Life with Jason Goliath. She bagged her first job as a presenter in October 2016, after joining Mbali Nkosi and Thato Molamu as the hosts of All Access Mzansi.
She has presented live productions, such as the 29th South African Music Awards and the Red Carpet at the South African Film and Television Awards. She appeared risqué in the 2019 film Love Lives Here.
Shozi portrayed the role of Tsholo in the 13-episode 1Magic dramedy Roomies in 2023. She joined the cast of the television drama series “Adulting” as Botle Kompie, a lead character and Bonga’s new love interest.
On 6 June 2024, Shozi won the Most Stylish Entertainer Award at Glamour’s Most Glamorous Fashion Awards held in Cape Town.
She plays Amandla Zungu, a brave and fierce daughter whose life is torn apart by her father’s murder, in BET Africa’s new telenovela Black Gold. She was announced as a co-host of Miss South Africa alongside Pamela Mtanga in 2025.
Aside from acting and presenting, Shozi is a content creator. She has worked with top brands such as HM and L’Oreal Paris South Africa.
Personal Life
Nomalanga Shozi was in a relationship with Bandile Mbere, and they welcomed a baby girl in 2022. She and her baby daddy, Bandile Mbere, have reportedly split. They kept their relationship private and went public at their baby shower.
She lost her brother earlier in 2025.
