Lady Du (born 17 May 1991) is a South African singer, songwriter, DJ, and vocalist best known for the hits “Dakiwe”, “Superstar”, and “Woza”.
The “Dakiwe” hitmaker is also regarded as a pioneering force in the Amapiano genre. She features in “Umsebenzi Wethu” by Busta 929, Mpura, Mr JazziQ, Reece Madlisa, and Zuma.

Early Life
Lady Du was born Duduzile Ngwenya on 17 May 1991 in Vosloorus, Gauteng, South Africa. She grew up in a musical family; her father, Mbuyiselo Ngwenya, also known as DJ Choc, owned a nightclub in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni. She learned to DJ from her father.
Education
Lady Du received a bursary from Carnival City to study somatology in London after graduating from high school.
She also has 19 qualifications in business management, somatology, logistics, physiology, firefighting, anatomy, health, and safety.
Career
After her studies, Lady Du visited 108 countries while working as a samotologist and skin therapist for a year. She returned to South Africa in 2012.
Lady Du held down several jobs in many industries for years. She worked on a ship, did beauty, studied fire-fighting, worked as a teeth whitening specialist, and held a safety officer position. She later returned and worked at her father’s shop.
Lady Du also worked in the logistics sector with trucks. Upon her return to South Africa, she faced significant challenges in her music career. However, the money she earned overseas proved essential, as it helped fund her musical journey.
She eventually featured in singles “Chase” by DJ Siso and “Ama beer” by DJ Clock. In 2016, she landed a job as a logistics manager. She also worked for Ukhozi FM for five years alongside the late DJ Vukani “Chilli M” Masinga.
In 2021, Lady Du decided to release two songs, “Umsebenzi Wethu” and “Superstar,” before leaving the industry after 15 years of trying. They became her breakthrough songs.
Ladu Du was later introduced to Amapiano music by Tumelo “Mr JassiQ” Manyoni. She released the singles Dabula and Superstar. She has collaborated with other singers, including DBN Gogo, Seekay, Busta 929, Junior De Rocka, Mr JazziQ, Sleazy, and Mellow.
Ladu Du released her album “Song is Queen” in 2024. She has a global presence, with her songs mainly streamed from Finland, Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and the United States. She is also the brand ambassador of Bulldogs Gin.
She has performed in countries such as Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
In addition to her music career, Lady Du is a successful businesswoman. She launched her salon business, Wawa la Beauty, in 2023. She has since launched two more salons, including the new children’s salon, Wawa la Cutzie.
Personal Life
Lady Du was previously engaged to actor Andile Mxakaza, but the relationship ended in 2022. They had dated for four months in the past and reunited after 12 years. She has a daughter, Mia.
She gifted her mother with a Merc on Mother’s Day in 2022. Her father, music legend DJ Choc, passed away in 2025. Her brother, Thabiso, has also passed away. Her uncle, DJ Zan-D, works at YFM.
