Anele Zondo (born 24 September 1994) is a South African television presenter, actress, musician, and businesswoman. She is best known for hosting Massive Music on Mzansi Magic and playing Faith on the telenovela The River.

Early Life

Anele Zondo was born on 24 September 1994 in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal. Her parents were educators, her mother was a teacher, and her father was a school principal and a choir conductor. She is the youngest of four daughters.

Growing up, her father made her and her siblings understand music from a young age. She also developed a love for fashion from a young age. Since she grew up wearing hand-me-downs from her older siblings, she had to find a way to own the clothes.

Education

After Grade 12, Zondo obtained a National Diploma in Media Studies from Boston Media House in Johannesburg.

Career

Zondo worked as a PA for Mazondo Foods services. She worked for her sister as a delivery girl, a driver, a receptionist, and a PA. She later quit and followed her dream.

She made her television debut in the recurring role of a receptionist in the Mzansi Magic drama series It’s Complicated (season 2, episode 5) in 2016. She later portrayed Busi, a cameo role, in Mzansi Magic drama Saints and Sinners in March 2017.

In 2017, Zondo entered the MTV Base VJ Search and placed in the Top 10. She began shadowing Lalla Hirayama and Smash Afrika, the hosts of the music show Massive Music. She eventually became a permanent presenter on the show.

Zondo is also a co-presenter of the SABC 1 show Telkom Monate Vibes. She played Faith, a recurring role, in the 1Magic soap opera The River in January, 2018. She became the new host of the SABC1 reality competition series One Mic, replacing Bontle Modiselle, in 2020.

In 2025, she landed her own SABC1 reality show, “Anele Zondo – The Glow”, which premiered on Saturday, 5 April at 20h00. She also played Kagiso Molemane, a lead role, in the action movie Gereza.

Zondo ventured into music under the moniker Ney The Bae, releasing her first single, “Ingwe,” in 2021. She has since sung in the R&B, amapiano, and gqom genres and has also released a song titled “Vuka.”

In 2025, she welcomed her baby girl after releasing her E.P. VUKA and was part of several projects, including Shona Phantsi / On Da Floor.

As an MC, Zondo has graced corporate events, concerts, and shows, such as Nedbank Youth X, and hosted the Basadi in Music Awards. She has also worked on the Kotex TED Talks, the Impilo the Scam premiere, Music is King, the Channel O Pre-Party, Friends of Amstel, Fact Durban Rocks NYE, and Telkom Monate Vibes.

Zondo has also worked with brands, including GUESS, Kotex, DStv, Kia, Flying Fish, Mercedes-Benz, and Brutal Fruit. She was a brand ambassador for Catrice cosmetics.

Personal Life

Anele Zondo is currently single and has a daughter named Moä, whom she welcomed in May 2024 and celebrated her first birthday in May 2025.

She has, however, been caught up in many relationship speculations. She was linked to Ciza after gossip blogger Musa Khawula identified him as her “baby daddy”; however, she later confirmed that Ciza is not the father of her daughter.

She was also linked to businessman Lebo Gunguluza after the two were seen on vacation together and shared “couple goals” content. While reports in 2024 confirmed they had broken up, Anele Zondo denied the dating allegations.

Zondo shared a kiss with L-Tido during a podcast episode that aired in July 2025. She later addressed the moment, clarifying that she was single and that the kiss did not indicate a romantic relationship.
