Bernice West (born 21 October 2000) is an Afrikaans singer-songwriter best known for her hit album Net Geleen.
West was the runner-up of the KykNet reality show Maak my Famous (make me famous). Since her breakthrough in 2019, she has been making remarkable moves. She released her debut single Sonop-Blom in March 2020.

Early Life
Bernice van der Westhuizen was born on 21 October 2000 in Rustenburg, North West Province, South Africa. She grew up in a small farming town in Swartruggens.
Career
West was part of the Rusternburg High School choir when they paid tribute to Freddie Mercury with a performance of Bohemian Rhapsody. It caused a buzz on social media and caught the attention of South Africans in 2019.
She had the privilege of singing the national anthem at the end of her matric year. She later received an invitation to sing the South African national anthem before a test match between Argentina and the Springboks.
She released the hit album Net Geleen, which had a track that topped the Apple Music charts for ten months. The album was nominated for a SAMA in 2021, under the category Best Contemporary Album (Beste kontemporere Musiek Album).

West held a live performance with a band in Thabazimbi. She was the runner-up of the KykNET reality show Maak my Famous (Make Me Famous). She was a cast member of the 2022 musical, Die Gelofte: n Musiekblyspel, directed by her husband, Jannes Erasmus.
West was part of the Hoërskool Rustenburg choir’s music video The Bohemian Rhapsody. She has released many hit songs and albums and has been a nominee for many music awards. She starred in Inhoud Huis Musiek’s hit musical, Die Gelofte: ’n Musiekblyspe.
Some of her hits, including “Sonop-Blom” and “Die Hart”, have garnered millions of views on streaming platforms such as YouTube. She is recognized for being the youngest Afrikaans artist to be nominated for a SAMA.
Personal Life
Bernice West got married to actor and writer Jannes Erasmus in January 2023. The duo exchanged their marriage vows under the Lowveld trees on the Lunikhy game farm near Bela-Bela.
They got engaged in Zanzibar, where Erasmus proposed to her in 2022. On 14 January 2025, she welcomed her baby daughter, Lua. They also marked their second wedding anniversary in 2025.
