Bobby van Jaarsveld (born 6 March 1987) is a South African singer-songwriter and actor. He is best known for his song Spieëltjie.
He played his role in the film Liefling – Die Movie. He won the award for best newcomer at the Huisgenoot Tempo Awards in 2006. He received a recording contract from Theuns Jordaan Productions in November 2006.

Early Life
Bobby van Jaarsveld was born Pieter van Jaarsveld on 6 March 1987 in Paarl, Western Cape, South Africa, to Bob van Jaarsveld and Ronel Brink. He has an older sister, Karlien van Jaarsveld. He attended Brits High School.
Career
Bobby began his singing career in high school after releasing his first solo album. He got a recording contract from Theuns Jordaan Productions in 2006. He was nominated for three awards from Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees, Vonk, and Huisgenoot Tempo magazine.
Bobby won the award for Best Newcomer at the Huisgenoot Tempo Awards in 2006. After winning, he performed at the Skouspel Extravaganza hosted at Sun City until 2011. He released his debut album, ’n Duisend ure’, which reached gold status.
In 2009, Van Jaarsveld released another album, Net vir jou. He wrote and composed each of the tracks on his second album. Its sales reached platinum status within eight weeks and reached double platinum status.
In 2010, Bobby won the Viewers’ Favourite Artist award for 2009 on the local music program DKNT. His song ‘Spieëltjie’, from his second album, won Best Afrikaans Song at the Huisgenoot Tempo and Vonk Awards.
Bobby released another album, ‘Wat geld nie kan koop nie’, in 2012. He also released ‘Maak ‘n wens’ in 2014. He also appeared in the SABC2 music series Sweepslag as a featured artist.
He is also an actor and has appeared in many television shows. He played the lead role in the Afrikaans film Liefling – Die Movie in November 2010. He also starred in the film As Jy Sing in 2013.
Bobby appeared as a guest on kykNET’s talk show Republiek van Zoid Afrika in 2015. He was also a coach on the M-Net reality competition The Voice South Africa in 2016.
He has also appeared in other talk shows such as Glitterati, Fiesta, In Pas, Jukebox, Pasella, and Expresso. He also starred in the Showmax reality series Bobby & Karlien: In Jou Skoene with his sister from 2017 to 2019.
Bobby released a new heartbreak single, “Niks Soos Liefde Nie”, weeks after announcing his divorce from his wife Anna, in 2024. He entered Tropika Island of Treasure in Zanzibar as a celebrity contestant and as a contestant in SABC’s local version of Masked Singer.
Bobby was cast in season four of the crime drama anthology television series Spoorloos in 2022 and starred in Eksie Perfeksie, an Afrikaans comedy on Showmax in 2024.
Personal Life
Bobby van Jaarsveld married Annatjie at the Dunes Resort in Plettenberg Bay, the Western Cape, in 2011. The couple has three children: Sion, Leben, and Armani.
After 13 years of marriage, the couple announced their divorce. They began dating when they were both 17. They first met in Grade 8, while they were pupils in school. They lived in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal.
Bobby tested positive for COVID-19 in 2021. His mother, Ronel Brink, was also hospitalized for 23 days after testing positive for COVID-19.
