Brümilda van Rensburg (born 30 October 1956) is a South African actress. She is best known for playing Louwna Roelofse Vorster Edwards in the M-Net soap opera Egoli.
Van Rensburg is a tour-de-force actress who has made an indelible impression on Television, stage, and film. She has appeared in Ballade Vir ‘n Enkeling, Egoli: Place of Gold, and High Rollers.

Early Life
Brümilda van Rensburg was born on 30 October 1956 in Philippolis, South Africa. She grew up in Pretoria but spent her school holidays on the farm with her siblings, Fredrika, Nancy, and her late brother Renico.
She was involved in acting at school and was the first pupil ever to receive school colours for acting.
Education
Van Rensburg matriculated at the Afrikaans High School for Girls in Pretoria in 1974. She graduated cum laude with a BA Honours degree in Drama from the University of Pretoria. She is a two-time winner of the coveted Ludwig Binge award for her achievements in the dramatic arts.
Career
Brümilda worked with CAPAB after university. During her stay with CAPAB, she won the Fleur du Cap award for her role as Cassandra in The Orestian Trilogy. After spending three years there, she relocated to Johannesburg to pursue freelance work.
The ultimate boere glamour girl has starred in iconic Afrikaans TV productions since her debut. She played Grietjie in Voortreflike Familie Smit, feminist Annie in Last Summer at Bluefish Cove, and a farmer’s wife in Wêreld sonder Grense.
Brümilda portrayed the frail Blanche in Streetcar Named Desire. She played Adele in the TV series Wolwedans in die Skemer, a role that made her a household name with local viewers. She portrayed a political journalist in Binnekring, a role that earned her an Artes nomination.
She won a Vita Award for her work as Marie in Exit the King and featured in Dancing in the Forest and Brutal Glory, released at the Cannes Film Festival. She is a two-time nominee for the “Most popular SA female actress” award and won in 1995.
Brümilda portrayed the lead in “Om ‘Goodbye’ te sê” in London to standing ovations in 2000. She played the starring role of Rika Naude in the kykNET drama series Hartland in 2011.
She also played the starring role of Helena King in the SABC3 drama series High Rollers in 2013. The same year, she was invited to read Antjie Krog’s work to music in Stellenbosch.
Aside from acting, Brümilda is a drama teacher and a motivational speaker. She also has a range of clothes under the label Brümilda and hosts her radio talk show on Punt radio. She has 12 years of training in both modern and classic dance.
She is a student of the French and German languages. She has directed some inserts for the SABC and produced 3 plays for the arts festivals. Her autobiography, Vyftig, Vurig en Fabulous, was published in 2012.
Brümilda portrayed the theatrical role of Romy in Die Vrou Vantevore, written by Roland Schimmelpfenning. She began playing Jana du Preez in the kykNET soap opera Binnelanders in 2014.
She worked with her late brother, Renico, to prepare portfolios for her drama school and agency.
Personal Life
Brümilda van Rensburg married playwright Terblanche Jordaan in 1991. She divorced him in 1994 after a three-year marriage during which she suffered a miscarriage.
In 2017, she lost her brother, Renico, to heart problems, who is believed to have died of a heart attack in his sleep. She found him dead in his flat in Plettenberg Bay. She lost her father while filming Egoli and her mother while filming High Rollers at the age of 83.
