Edith Venter (born 13 July 1950) is a South African author, socialite, events organizer, fashion icon, and businesswoman. She is best known for her events company, Edith Venter Promotions.
Venter was named the Sunday Times Best Dressed Woman of 1989 and has appeared in several society pages of local newspapers and magazines. She is the CEO of her own company, Edith Venter Promotions.

Early Life
Edith Venter was born on 13 July 1950 in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. She grew up in a normal, average family. Her father died of cancer.
Career
Venter started a promotions company, Edith Venter Promotions, in 1999. She rebranded it to Edith Unlimited in September 2010 and later back to Edith Venter Promotions in 2018.
She has also supported several charity organisations and has been involved in many children’s charities. She supports the Cotlands Baby Sanctuary, Reach for a Dream, Red Cross, and JHB Child Welfare.
Edit also works with the SA Guide Dogs Association. She is the Patron of Women in Finance, an honorary member of The Right Honourable League of Gentlemen, and spokesperson for osteoporosis.
For three consecutive years, 1988, 1989, and 1990, Edit was a nominee for one of South Africa’s best-dressed women. She won the title in 1989 and featured in David Dodd’s calendar of South Africa’s most beautiful women in 1994.
Edit wrote the book “The Art of Good Living”. After her father died of cancer, she became the patron of the Cancer Association of South Africa. She has spent time and energy caring for and counselling cancer patients and their families.
Venter donated over R2 million to the fight against cancer, as well as the Children’s Care Ward of the Pretoria Academic Hospital. She received the Mariette Loots Friends for Life Achievement Award for 2005 because of her 30 years of work with cancer patients.
Personal Life
Edith Venter married Roy Hermer at the age of 25. They divorced before she was 30 years old. She later married electronics tycoon Bill Venter, with whom she has two children, Blane and Marc. She had to return to South Africa from London to be his wife.
In 1994, she received a R12-million divorce settlement from her second husband, Bill Venter. She later married Garth Carstens, who was 10 years younger, three months after they met. They are divorced.
Venter married financial adviser Johnny Schwartz at the Thorny Bush Nature Reserve in Mpumalanga. In 2024, she confirmed that her marriage to Schwartz ended a few years ago. She has a daughter-in-law, Julie Nguyen.
