Early Life

Kwenzokuhle Ngcobo was born on 15 February 1992 in the small town of Izingolweni in Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal. He has a twin brother.

His father was famous and served as a mayor. He grew up in a village and would play outside with his friends, who would sometimes herd cattle or go hunting.

Education

Kwenzo Ngcobo applied for psychology after completing his matric year. He did the course over a period of about three months and realized he wanted to pursue a career related to acting and directing. So, he enrolled to study drama at the Durban University of Technology and completed his degree in 2013

Career

Kwenzo has performed in many local theatre productions in the early part of his career. He made his TV acting debut in the recurring role of Themba on the e.tv soap opera Imbewu.

After the pandemic affected the theaters, Kwenzo asked his agent to help him find an on-screen role, and he began attending auditions. In March 2021, he auditioned for the telenovela The Wife and was called for a callback in July.

He bagged the role of the handsome Qhawe in the Showmax telenovela, The Wife, which made him quite popular, especially with the ladies. His character grew from being the overshadowed brother to the right-hand man of the family’s patriarch, Nkosana Zulu. His pictures made waves on the internet under the hashtag #ManCrush.

Kwenzo played the recurring role of Hlophe in the SABC1 soap opera Uzalo, making his debut on 2 April 2021 on Season 7, Episode 20. He starred as Alex Shabane, a former freedom fighter, in the Netflix thriller series Soon Comes Night in 2024.

In 2025, Kwenzo won the Best Actor category in the Simon Mabhunu Sabela KZN Film and Television Awards.
