Ngizwe Mchunu (born 5 December 1980) is a South African radio personality and sangoma. He is a former presenter on Ukhozi FM and SABC1’s Roots.
Mchunu, also known as Inkosi YamaBhinca, is a controversial figure. He made derogatory remarks after photos of a gay couple getting married in traditional attire in 2025.

Early Life
Ngizwe Mchunu was born on 5 December 1980 in Nkandla, KwaZulu-Natal, to Zakhaliya “Mganomanxeba” and Duduzile “maNtombela” Mchunu.
Career
Mchunu worked as a presenter for SABC’s Ukhozi FM. The station fired him after he allegedly breached a confidentiality policy by publicly sharing private station information.
After he left the station, Mchunu launched his own online radio station, Ngizwe Mchunu FM, on 14 September 2019.
Controversy
Mchunu was a supporter of former president Jacob Zuma. Before Zuma was arrested, Mchunu insisted that he would not be jailed. He ignited uproar after he made derogatory remarks about a gay couple who got married in traditional attire.
“A man who sleeps with another man? That is incredibly shameful,” he said. “This is the root of societal troubles.
JAC Motors has distanced itself from former ambassador and media personality Mchunu after his remarks. However, his views were seen as inciting hate crimes and violence. So, JAC Motors released a statement denouncing him and clarified that they no longer have any official affiliation with him.
The South African Human Rights Commission found that his statement amounted to prima facie violations of South Africa’s equality and anti-discrimination laws.
The SAHRC issued a formal demand instructing Mchunu to cease from publishing, distributing, or promoting any further content that incites violence, constitutes hate speech, or amounts to discrimination against LGBTI+ persons on any platform.
He was asked to remove the offending material from all social media platforms and issue a public apology within 24 hours.
Personal Life
Controversial media figure Ngizwe Mchunu attempted to marry three women. His first wife, Siphelele Nxumalo, dragged him to court in 2014 to nullify his civil marriage to his third wife, Floda Mthimkhulu.
The court nullified his marriage to his second wife, Lindiwe Khuzwayo, and his third wife, Floda Mthimkhulu. His first wife had claimed that she wasn’t consulted when Ngizwe married them.
His second wife, Lindiwe, announced on social media that she wants another husband in 2023.
