Thembi Seete (born 25 March 1977) is a South African actress, television presenter, and singer-songwriter. She is best known as a member of the now-defunct kwaito music group Boom Shaka.
She has appeared in many roles, including Gladys in Gomora, Bongi in Rhythm City, Hazel in Yizo Yizo, Lerato in Gaz’lam, and Nina Moloi in Zone 14. She was a judge at the Miss South Africa beauty pageant (season 67).

Early Life
Thembi Seete was born on 25 March 1977 in Soweto, a township in Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality in Gauteng, South Africa. She grew up with her uncle and her aunt in Sebokeng.
Career
Seete joined the kwaito music group Boom Shaka in 1994 and was a member until the group disbanded in 2000. She started her solo music journey and acting after the band broke up.
In 2000, Seete landed a minor role in the feature film Hijack Stories. She got her acting breakthrough when she played Hazel in the SABC1 drama series Yizo Yizo.
In 2001, Seete released her first solo album, Lollipop, and her second album, Smatsatsa. She sang the track Sure Ntombazana for the soundtrack to Yizo Yizo 2.
In 2002, Seete appeared as Lerato in seasons one and two of the SABC1 drama series Gaz’lam. She made her final guest appearance in the season three premiere in February 2005. She portrayed Pumla in the made-for-TV movie Crossing the Line.
Seete began playing the leading role of Nina Moloi in the SABC1 soccer drama series Zone 14 and reprised the role for four seasons. She landed a guest-starring role of Lily in an episode of the SABC1 drama series Mtunzini.com.
On 30 July 2015, Seete made her debut appearance as Bongi in the soap opera Rhythm City. She has also appeared in other productions such as My Perfect Family, Kings of Jo’burg, Glambition, and Family Secrets.
Aside from acting, Seete wears other hats. For six years, she presented the SABC1 music dance show Jika Majika for the first 10 seasons (2006-2012).
In 2013, she entered the Mzansi Magic reality competition Clash of the Choirs South Africa as one of the seven choirmasters and was a guest presenter at the 6th Annual Crown Gospel Music Awards on SABC2.
In 2013, Seete hosted the Mzansi Magic game show Nguwe Na?, in which singles compete for a chance to win a date. She returned to host season two in 2014.
The kwaito star was a co-host on the Mzansi Magic reality music competition Idols SA in 2022. She plays the controversial role of Portia in season two of Showmax’s Adulting. In 2025, she received a Legends Award in recognition of her contribution to the community
Personal Life
Thembi Seete dated Bobo ‘Bo’ Seritsane for over ten years. The couple was engaged in 2012, but their wedding was delayed, and they ended the relationship. She had a son, Dakalo, with the executive chair of Afribiz Invest, Collen Mashawana.
Sadly, Seete lost her father in 2014 and her mother, Rebecca Seete, who struggled with a brain tumour for years, in July 2021.
