Early Life

Zetske van Pletzen was born in March 1988 in Pretoria to Pierre van Pletzen and Elzette Maarschalk. She is also the stepdaughter of actress Sandra Vaughn.

She developed an interest in the performing arts at the age of four. Zetske played netball and athletics. She also achieved national colours for athletics and cross-country.

Education

Zetske matriculated from Pro Arte Alphen Park in 2005, majoring in drama. She was the best movement and drama student in 2004 and 2005. She holds diplomas in Cechetti Ballet (Intermediate) and RAD (Elementary).

Career

Zetske started portraying characters in radio infomercials from an early age. She played Robbie Wessels in the kykNET series Hart van Staal in 14 episodes during her matric year. She is also a voice artist.

The actress portrayed one of the Pretoria-accent schoolgirls in a commercial for Polka.com. After her matriculation, she landed a role in the kykNET series, Begeertes. She has also worked in a production company as a stagehand, artists’ dresser, general assistant, dancer, and MC.

She worked as an English teacher and an au pair in France in 2007. When she returned home, she was fluent in French. In 2008, Zetske portrayed Izel Landman in Deon Opperman’s drama series Kruispad.

Zetske landed a role in M-Net’s action short film for On Target. She played an assassin and had weapon training on set with an armourer. She portrayed a drug addict, Kara, in the soap opera Binnelanders.

Zetske van Pletzen was also part of the stage production Houtkruis – Die Musical, performed at the State Theatre in 2009, and Dood van ‘n Verkoopsman performed at KKNK and Aardklop in 2010.

In 2010, Zetske portrayed Maria-Elena Holly in Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story at the State Theatre. She landed a starring role as the sassy book editor Marcel in 7de Laan in August 2011 and left the role in April 2013.

She landed a small role in the feature film Semi-Soet in 2012 and starred in the Deon Opperman period drama series Bloedbroers in 2015. She also landed a role in the comedy-drama film Mooirivier.
